Hello,
A few parents have asked about ways to stay in touch throughout the school year. While I do not use Facebook, I am always happy to connect with families through email, a phone call to the school office, or a note in your child’s agenda. Please note, agendas are checked daily but homework folders are not.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or information you’d like to share. Thanks!
Contact Information: [email protected] or call the main office (506) 843 2900.
Upcoming Dates:
September 29th – Orange Shirt Day
September 30th – Truth and Reconciliation Day (No School)
October 12th – Thanksgiving (No School)
Homework: No homework this week.
Please take a quick peek in your child’s homework bag and agenda each evening.
Agendas should be signed nightly, as there may be important communications about your child’s day. Homework folders are only checked at the end of the week, so if there is something you would like me to see or be aware of, please feel free to send a note or write a quick message in your child’s agenda.
Thank you for your help and support. It is greatly appreciated!
A Few Reminders:
- Student Fee $65.
- Please keep personal items such as toys at home.
- Students are asked to only water in their water bottles for use in the classroom. Juice and flavored water are welcomed at snack and lunchtime; however, when spilled, they can stain floors and desks and make for a sticky clean up.
Weather
Fall weather can be very unpredictable, so dressing in layers is usually the best option. The mornings can be cool, but it often warms up by the afternoon. Our classroom is on the second floor and tends to get warmer later in the day, so layers help students stay comfortable from morning to dismissal.
Outdoor Time:
Again, this year, K-2 students will be spending more time outdoors. Please be sure to dress for the weather and feel free to pack a change of clothes in your child’s bookbag (especially socks).
Literacy:
We will be reviewing short vowel sounds this week in class. When a word or syllable has only one vowel and it is followed by one or more consonants, the vowel makes its short sound. Song
You may notice an “Extra Literacy Practice” section on this week’s newsletter. These activities are completely optional and are included for families who are looking for some additional literacy resources and practice at home. We will also be working on these words at school. Students will practice reading and spelling each word.

Math:
This week in math, we will continue reviewing Grade 1 concepts such as recognizing, reading, and printing numbers from 0-100 when they are shown or said aloud. We will also be practicing addition and subtraction within 10. In addition, we will continue reviewing skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s to 20 before extending our skip counting all the way to 100.
You may notice a “Math Extra Practice” section on this week’s newsletter. These activities are completely optional and are included for families who are looking for additional math resources and practice at home. The math facts we are working on should become quick and automatic with practice, as they are a review of concepts learned in Grade 1.
