You will notice that in this week’s newsletter, there is extra practice in Literacy and Math. This is not homework, just options for those looking for extra practice at home.

Literacy:

This week we will look at the voiced “th” sound. This is a diagraph that  occurs at the beginning of most function words (like this, that, the, they), in the middle of a word between two vowels (like mother, bother), and when the ‘th’ is followed by an ‘-e’ ending (like bathe) or ‘-ing’ (like bathing), that can be found at the beginning, middle or end of a word.

We will be moving on to basic addition this week. We will spend the week reviewing grade 1 concepts (addition within 10) and move on to addition within 20.

Exploratory:

We are learning about healthy eating and food guides. We also have a baby visit this week through Roots of Empathy and will look at caring behavior and showing empathy towards others.
