Homework: Read and Math sheet
Math Homework: students have a math sheet with adding with regrouping questions. This has been a very tough unit for some students. They are struggling to carry over their numbers and a good grasp of math facts is needed to complete questions easily.
Literacy (same as last week)
We are looking at r-controlled vowel “er”. “er” is the most common r controlled vowel, especially at the end of words (e.g., helper, baker, water).
*** We are at the point in the year where word work and spelling rules are becoming more complex, and there is a lot for students to remember. This is why nightly reading is so important. These words frequently appear in the books students read, and the more exposure they have to them, the easier it becomes to recognize and decode them.
The following are the heart words we have covered so far this school year. Students should be able to read these words.

This week we will are working on subtraction with two-digit numbers by regrouping/borrowing a number. This is the most difficult concept in grade 2 math and can be challenging for students.
EX:
It is important that students have a good grasp of their basic addition / subtraction facts to 20 to have success with this concept. Students can use a number line in class to help but will need to use other strategies for assessment purposes.
