Homework:
Read 2-3 nights this week. Return books on Friday
Printing/Math sheet video: https://youtu.be/QWLtHmvVstk
This is our second week of homework in Grade 2!
- Students have a guided reading book in their homework folder and are asked to read it at least 2-3 nights this week. This may be something new for your child, so please be patient as they get used to the routine. We have been practicing reading these types of books in class, and students are encouraged to do their best and sound out unfamiliar words.
- You will also find a printing sheet and a math sheet in your child’s homework folder. We have been learning proper printing techniques and talking about how letters “fall from the sky” when they are formed correctly.
- The math sheet is a review of concepts from the past few weeks. Students will find number lines that skip-count by 2s or 5s and are asked to fill in the missing numbers.
- Please see the link above for a helpful homework support video if you have any questions. Skip-counting charts are also available below to help students complete their work.
- Please return the guided reading book and homework sheets on Friday. Thank you for your support at home!

Reminders:
- Any families who have not yet paid their child’s student fee (K-2: $65) are asked to contact the office to make payment arrangements. This fee covers the school supplies purchased by the school for students this year.
- Please take a quick peek in your child’s homework bag and agenda each evening. Agendas should be signed nightly, as they may contain important information about your child’s day.
- Homework folders are checked only at the end of the week. If there is something you would like me to see or be aware of, please feel free to send a note or write a message in your child’s agenda.
- Blackville school is peanut free and scent free environment.
Thank you for your continued support!
Literacy:
This week we are looking at the sounds -all, -oll, -ull. Use -all, -oll, and -ull as spelling patterns at the end of words when a double l changes or influences the sound of the vowel (a, o, or u) that comes right before it.
You may notice an “Extra Literacy Practice” section on this week’s newsletter. These activities are completely optional and are included for families who are looking for some additional literacy resources and practice at home. We will also be working on these words at school. Students will practice reading and spelling each word.
Word Work
tall, call, wall, poll, full, bull
Heart Words

Math:
Last week we wrapped up a review of skip counting to 100 by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. This week in math, we will look at place value and use base 10 blocks to explore numbers to 100.
You may notice a “Math Extra Practice” section on this week’s newsletter. These activities are completely optional and are included for families who are looking for additional math resources and practice at home. These math facts answers should come quickly and automatically as they are a review from garde 1.
