Math Homework: subtraction with two-digit numbers, no regrouping.
Literacy
We are looking at r-controlled vowel “or/ore”. The “r-controlled” vowel rule (bossy R) decides when a vowel is followed by ‘r’, the ‘r’ controls the vowel sound, usually creating /or/. Use -or for the /or/ sound at the beginning or middle of words (e.g., form, fork). Use -ore at the end of words (e.g., more, shore, store).
*** We are at the point in the year where word work and spelling rules are becoming more complex, and there is a lot for students to remember. This is why nightly reading is so important. These words frequently appear in the books students read, and the more exposure they have to them, the easier it becomes to recognize and decode them.
The following are the heart words we have covered so far this school year. Students should be able to read these words.

Word Work
fork
sort
storm
core
score
shore
Heart Words
nothing
Math:
This week we will move on to adding two-digit numbers by regrouping/carrying a number.
EX:

It is important that students have a good grasp of their basic addition facts to 20 to have success with this concept. Students can use a number line in class to help but will need to use other strategies for assessment purposes.
Math Extra Practice
