Literacy:
We are looking at the y that makes a long e sound. The letter ‘y’ makes a long ”e” sound when it is at the end of a multi-syllable word such as baby, candy, or happy.
*** We are at the point in the year where word work and rules are starting to get complicated and there is a lot to remember. This is why it is so very important for students to do their nightly reading. These are all words that students are exposed to in books and the more exposure they get, the easier it is to recognize and decode these words.

We began double digit addition and subtraction last week by looking at 10 plus and minus a number. Today we reviewed this and looked at adding double digits (without regrouping) using base 10 blocks. We will continue to build on this concept this week.
