February 16th – Family Day (No School)
Homework: Read
Outdoor Time:
It looks like cold weather is starting to approach this week; however, the playground has been very wet due to recent mild temperatures. It would be good idea to put extra clothes in your child’s backpack in case they get wet. Especially an extra pair of socks.
Literacy:
Adding “ed” to a word: You add “ed” to a word (mainly verbs), to show it happened in the past (past tense), like “play” becomes “played”.

Math:
We have been exploring numbers larger than 100. Last week, we looked at place value and counted base 10 blocks up to 200. We will continue with this concept this week and look at comparing numbers using < > and = symbols.
Place Value Examples:
132
100 + 30 + 2
1 6 5
The value of the bold digit is 60 (6 tens)
Base Ten

Comparing Numbers: 197 > 123
Looking for extra practice in math? Students can always use extra practice with adding and subtracting numbers within 20.
